Inclusive Education

The Lycée Français International Victor Hugo provides support for students with special educational needs from kindergarten through high school.

A dedicated team of parents, teachers, and school leadership works together to meet the individual needs of each student. This team, known as EBEP, is actively involved in both primary and secondary education.

At the start of each school year, the educational team meets with every student and their parents or guardians to identify the specific support and accommodations required.

Missions of EBEP and the Educational Teams

  • Raise awareness: Inform parents and teachers about special educational needs.
  • Identify challenges: Detect learning difficulties and areas requiring attention.
  • Provide guidance: Advise families and, when needed, refer them to medical professionals to help identify the causes of persistent learning challenges.
  • Build trust: Establish a supportive and reliable environment for students, parents, teachers, and health professionals.
  • Develop tailored plans: Create Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs) in partnership with the student, family, teachers, and medical professionals to provide necessary accommodations.
  • Support families: Assist and guide families of students with special educational needs throughout their schooling.

If your child is new to LFIVH, please contact Mrs. Marie-Thérèse Turic in primary school or Mrs. Daniel-Risacher in secondary school.

What Is Inclusive Education?

To support students with special educational needs, the French Ministry of National Education has introduced a program designed to help them pursue their learning journey with confidence. Skilled educational teams provide personalized guidance, and a resource and information center is available to support their progress. Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs) are created in collaboration with students, families, and teachers to address challenges and ensure academic success.

AEFE directors emphasize the importance of including special needs students. Their inclusion promotes “openness, enriches exchanges and benefits the whole school community.”
